Shimano cranks fit into BB86 frames when you have this CeramicSpeed Bottom Bracket installed. The kit consists of two cups that are pressed into either side of the central opening. The cups come with CeramicSpeed Bearings installed. There are two versions. The first is our low drag, long life Standard Bearing with hardened-steel races and our super-round CeramicSpeed Balls. BSA is another way of stating English threading. The initialization comes from Birmingham Small Arms, which made bicycles. English threading on road bikes mean a 68mm wide, 34mm inside diameter shell with reverse threading on the drive side. It's the most common threaded standard employed today. This kit works with 24mm diameter cranks, found on cranks from Shimano, FSA, Rotor, and others. Choose between two bearings for the cups. Standard Bearings have low drag thanks to hardened-steel races and our Ceramic balls. Coated Bearings have those same balls installed on coated, hardened-steel races for longer life and less bearing drag. 24mm spindles easily fit through the shell and allow for large bearings to be employed in the outside cups. Put more of your energy into forward motion by reducing frictional drag wherever you can. CeramicSpeed Standard Bearings typically have frictional drag of 0.3-0.4 watts per set. That's in the range of a 75% drag reduction compared to standard bottom brackets. CeramicSpeed balls are 100% smoother and 15% harder than ceramic competition. PF30A is a Cannondale-specific standard for their 73mm-wide bottom bracket shells. This CeramicSpeed kit makes it possible to install Shimano and other 24mm diameter cranks into a Cannondale frame. CeramicSpeed Bearings come installed in two cups and are connected through the shell via a spacer tube. It's available with either Standard or Coated Bearings. Both have super-round CeramicSpeed Balls and hardened-steel races. The CeramicSpeed Coated bearings have an additional attribute: a 3-micron-thick metallic layer over the races. This addition makes the races harder and smoother, lowering drag and increasing life. The unique PF30A shell is 73mm wide with a 46mm diameter. These cups and bearings adapt the shell so it is compatible with Shimano, FSA, and other cranks with 24mm spindles. Our CeramicSpeed Standard Bearings generate just 0.3-0.4 watts of frictional drag. That's a reduction in drag of 75% compared to stock bottom brackets. This is the result of great design: hardened-steel races combined with CeramicSpeed Balls that are 100% smoother and 15% harder than the ceramic competition. They also last longer. The CeramicSpeed Coated Bearings last even longer and feature even lower drag. Life increases by 60% and drag drops by 50% compared to our CeramicSpeed Standard Bearings.
